This arts enthusiast has distinguished himself as an entertainer on stage both here and abroad since 2005. A performer with music in his soul, Charly will take you into a wild world where musicality, comedy and imagery are intermingled.
A specialist in beatbox, singing, hosting... this career entertainer delivers his imagination through his vocal performances and his dedicated writing.

Very early on he developed his improv talents in high school and college at the CEGEP de St-Hyacinthe. In 2003 he was awarded the second “jury prize” and the “people’s choice award” at the “Cégeps en spectacle” competition. Since then his rise to stardom has taken him to the Just For Laughs Festival where he was spotted by another talented comedian, Christopher Williams who, in 2005, offered to have him take part in his “No Parents Allowed” show (more than 20 performances in Quebec).
Charly’s career continued to take off in 2006, performing in the big festivals and in a growing number of television performances. A guest at the Just For Laughs galas (Normand Brathwaite, Peter MacLeod and Arturo Brachetti) and at the Grand Rire à Quebec comedy festival, each of his performances drew a standing ovation. He also received two nominations at the Just For Laughs Festival for the “prix de la relève” (emerging artist) and “Révélation” (discovery) prizes in 2006.
He made a much talked about incursion into the Anglophone community at the well-known Montreal show of Just For Laughs in 2006 and he was the first Francophone artist to take part in the Lipton Just For Laughs Comedy Tour, the largest tour if its kind in Canada, where he captivated audiences in the 24 largest cities in the country. After Canada, he was welcomed in Europe at the Montreux Comedy Festival in Switzerland where he was discovered yet again.
In the summer of 2007, he took part in the Normand Brathwaite gala, in the Grand rire, in the prestigious Brachetti Dragone galas for the 25th anniversary of the Just For Laughs Festival and reached new heights at the International Balloon Festival of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. In the fall, Charly returned to Europe where he made a very big impression on the Incroyable Talent (France 2) television show, where more than 5 million spectators enjoyed his performance.
The year 2008 began at high speed: Charly distinguished himself at the Show du Refuge by Dan Bigras (SRC network), at the Célébration gala hosted by Garou and Mitsou (TVA network) and he received a nomination for an Olivier as the “discovery” of the year. In the spring he was invited to the Festival Paris to do his comedy, to the Olympia in Paris and to the Festival Juste pour rire Nantes-Atlantique.
The following summer, he set a participation record at the Just For Laughs Festival with no fewer than 23 performances in 17 days, including the Urban Show, the Maboul variety show, the galas of Mike Ward and Patrick Groulx, the Rachid Badouri gala and on the Anglophone side of the Just For Laughs Festival with American comedian Jimmy Fallon. A very well-received performance that resulted in an invitation to perform at the Toronto Just For Laughs Festival, accompanied by Jason Alexander and Jimmy Fallon. In Quebec he appeared at the Grand Rire once again for the Martin Petit and Normand Brathwaite galas. In October and November 2008, he took part for the second time in the Just For Laughs Comedy Tour (22 shows and 18 large cities). In the winter of 2009, Charlypop became the spokesman for the Journées montérégiennes de la persévérance scolaire (a high school dropout prevention campaign). His support was deeply appreciated by young people and his contract was renewed in 2010 and 2011. In the spring he went to Switzerland for the Comedy Nights of the Festival Rose d'Or and in the summer he presented Charlypop and Friends at the Zoofest and the Charlypop Workshop at the “Urban Arts” of the Just For Laughs festival, as well as taking part in the Just For Laughs galas of Normand Brathwaite, Rachid Badouri, Mike Ward and the “Best of” show.
In 2010, with accomplice comedian Korine Côté, they created the “Humour et perseverance” show as a part of the Journées montérégiennes de la persévérance scolaire. The concept was to make high school students aware of the pitfalls of dropping out and the tour proved to be a big success in the schools of the Montérégie region of southern Quebec (Charlypop has been the spokesman for the campaign since 2009). He then flew to the other side of Canada to perform a number at the Vancouver Olympic games.
In July he was invited to the Just For Laughs galas of Louis Morissette and Jean-François Mercier as well is that of Gregory Charles accompanied by the Qwartz vocal quartet. He was also part of the Pink Cendrillon cabaret show at the outdoor performances of the Just For Laughs Festival. In the fall of 2010, Charlypop became the spokesman for the Relève en folies event, which encourages emerging artists while benefitting youth organizations, a role which he is repeating in 2011.
Variety artist, expansionist creator, imaginative team builder, he has been in the field for ten years now and continues to progress at the rhythm of his passions. Working on a One Man Show as a comedian-performer and having a studio to create an album, an Internet concept, live show… he sees the future as an opportunity-filled playground.
